Our
Comments: Totally vegetarian cafe with plenty
of vegan options. Homemade, organic and fair trade kind of
stuff. From noon there are soups and a main meal, which
changes daily. The soups are always vegan or can be adapted
to vegan and the main meal is often vegan or can be adapted.
If you want to make certain there's a vegan option available
you can ring the day before. There are always a selection of
salads which are suitable. There are also white and
wholemeal organic baguettes, homemade bread sandwiches and
bagels. They use vegan Pure sunflower spread. Fillings
include houmus, tofu (these are not always available), roast
peppers, sundried tomatoes, jalapenos, olives, grated carrot
etc. So there is plenty to make interesting vegan
sandwiches.
They
do their best to always have a vegan cake available. Soya
milk is stocked and usually soya yoghurt, to go with
granola, cake or soup. Until 11.30am there are breakfasts of
toast with homemade marmalade or jam and granola. During the
summer they served homemade vegan ice cream and may make it
for special occasions. Take away, except main meals, is
available along with homemade loaves to order. Also, buffet
service for groups of up to 25 people and they have the
occasional licensed evening event. If you send your e-mail
address to embassycafe@cathays.org.uk
they will put you on the mailing list.
Vegan cakes including sugar and gluten free versions are
available to order from a lady at Embassy who hasn't decided
on the name of her vegan cake making business yet. These
have been sampled and are delicious.
