Our
Comments: Soup

everything that is suitable is labelled vegan and they can
modify other dishes.
Our
Comments: Lebanese
take-away
that offers authentic home-made food. Many
of the
dishes are vegan like Falafel, Hummos, Baba Ghanouj,
Kushari and Fattoush salad. They
also do catering for all kinds of occasions.
Location:
Just
off Cowbridge Road with Cash Generator on the corner.
Our
Comments: Japanese
restaurant and take-away. As it is a sushi bar most of the
dishes are seafood based but the staff do understand
veganism. Suitable dishes are Udon noodles with
vegetables, a few sushi rolls and green salad. They also
have a restaurant in Roath, Cardiff.

Cowbridge

Our
Comments: According to our roving researcher Mark, Jinglees
has changed management. It is no longer a Mediterranean
restaurant and is now mostly a meat grill. The choice is
very limited but they can produce a nicely presented salad
and prices are reasonable.
Location:
Close to Somerfield on
Cowbridge Road East.
Llanover Hall Arts

Our
Comments: Llanover Hall offers a wide range of art and
creative courses, both informal and accredited. There are
daytime and evening courses for people of all ages and
abilities. There is a small cafe for students and it
caters very well for vegans. The freshly prepared lunches
are mainly vegetarian and there are vegan options. Soya
milk is available for hot drink and breakfast options.
They have non-dairy spread for toast, sandwiches etc. They
also serve jacket potatoes and home-made soup.
Our Comments: Cafe
situated in a church hall. The beanburgers they serve at
lunchtime and in the evening are vegan. The soup of the day
is nearly always vegan. At lunchtime they serve jacket
potatoes, sandwiches, baguettes and paninis which can be
vegan, as they are made to order. If you reserve a table
other dishes can be prepared.
Location: Opposite
Victoria Park, on Cowbridge Road East.
Our
Comments: Restaurant with an
international menu, run by a Patagonian couple. Dishes on
the menu can be adapted to be suitable for vegans.
Probably best to contact them beforehand.
Location:
Near the main Cowbridge Road
East end of Kings Road.

Our
Comments: Turkish restaurant. The staff understand veganism
and are very pleasant but specify you are vegan to avoid
cheese. It is quite easy to work out from the menu which
dishes are suitable. Take-away food is available. Seren is
a word that occurs in both the Turkish and Welsh languages
(pronounced the same). It means the main mast of a ship in
Turkish and a star in Welsh and is also the name of the
EatOutVeganWales dog!
Location:
Cowbridge Road East is the main street in Canton.
Seren is quite close to the Corporation pub.
Bangkok Café (207 Cowbridge Road East): Thai
restaurant. As the executive chef from the Thai House
oversees the kitchen it is not a surprise they do not cater
for vegans. (last
updated 18/07/2010)
Eurasian Tandoori (66 Cowbridge Road East): This
"contemporary" Indian & Indonesian restaurant
does not appear interested in catering for vegans but they
do seem to like cliches.
