Our Comments: Thai restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is good and nicely presented. Explain that you are a vegan but most of the vegetarian dishes seem suitable with the exception of two that contain oyster sauce. There is a set vegetarian menu for £18 per person (minimum of 2 people). This consists of mixed vegetarian starters, mixed vegetable curry served in coconut cream, bean curd stir fried with ginger mushroom and spring onion, mixed vegetables stir fried with sweet and sour sauce and steamed jasmine rice.

Our Comments: Italian restaurant and pizzeria. Inform them you are vegan and they  can provide pasta dishes and pizza. Pizza bases are suitable so you can have them cheese or the marinara without anchovies. The garlic bread is vegan and the soups usually are. Once you have told the staff you are vegan they are very helpful. At lunchtimes or between 5.30pm and 7.30pm they do a special offer of any pizza or pasta dish, eat in or take-away for £4.95. All dishes are available to take away at a slightly lower price.

Mediterraneo in the Village (22 Merthyr Road): This Italian-style restaurant does not appear interested in catering for vegans.
 
New Empire (45 Merthyr Road): Although they have vegetarian chicken on the menu, it won't stop them putting real chicken in other dishes ordered vegan. They will also put egg in, when you have asked for no egg.
 
The Mason Arms (21 Tyn-Y-Parc Road): This pub refuses to cater for vegans.
 
Village Kitchen (25 Merthyr Road): No interest in catering for vegans.
